In the Foundation Stage children have opportunities to practise and develop their fine and gross motor control. All children begin to understand how their body works and what it needs to be healthy. In Key Stage 1 children learn basic skills in games, gymnastics and dance. In Key Stage 2 children build on these skills with the addition of athletic activities and swimming.
Outdoor PE lessons are delivered by a specialist sports coach and give the children the opportunities to participate in a range of different games. We also have different coaches who deliver specific areas of the PE curriculum at different times of the year including: cricket, football, gymnastics and dance.
All children need to have a PE kit which must be kept in school during term time. Earrings and watches must be removed for PE and swimming.
At Kingsway we encourage children to participate in a range of extra curricular activities to extend their interest in sport. We run football and cricket sessions for Years 4, 5 and 6 and have a school cricket and football team. We also are part of a Sports Partnership which offers new opportunities to the children such as festivals and leadership courses.
