History

At Kingsway, History is a subject that our children love and are passionate about.  We recognise the importance in helping children gain knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Children have the opportunity to explore the history of their local area (including that of the school) so that children have a cultural understanding and a respect for where they are growing up. Our history curriculum enables learning about local history they learn about how past civilisations, from across the globe, have helped us to get to where we are today.

We are passionate about a love of reading and we encorporate this into our History lessons: providing children with high quality non-fiction books. At Kingsway, we develop as historians who ask questions, weigh evidence, investigate cause and effect, and amongst other skills, understand the significance of people, places and events.

History helps us learn about who we are and ultimately consider the questions: What will our role in history be? How has history shaped our lives?
