Welcome to Year 2's Class Page
Welcome to Year 2's class page, this is where you will find all the things that are happening in Year 2. Here you will find our half termly newsletters, pictures and information of things Y2 are covering throughout the year and information about homework and things that you can do to further support your child’s learning at home. I will also upload pictures of exciting activities that the children do throughout the year, you'll be able to find these below under the 'gallery' tab. We will continue to update the class page regularly so please continue to check in and see what's new in Year 2
This term (September-December) children will have their PE lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Each week, children should:
- Read at least 4 times a week (Prizes given for additional reading= 4+ times a week)
- Practise their spellings
- Practise their 2,5 and 10 and 3 times tables
Additional homework will ocassionally be sent to support your child's learning.
Listening to your child read a few of pages a night, four times a week is enough to help improve their fluency, comprehension and writing. Please remember to sign your child's reading record so that they can be rewarded.
In Year 2 this half term our focusses are:
English (Book as a Hook): Iggy Peck Architect
Maths: Place value (addition and subtraction, money and multiplication and division)
Geography: Seasides and Islands arounf the UK
Art: African Face Masks
Computing: use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
PSHE: Relationships (Health and Well-being)
RE: Celebrations around the world?
Children will be given their spelling lists each Monday followed by a test on the Friday. They should practise these throughout the week. They will then have a spelling test on Friday.
