Whilst our school website gives a brief outline of our activities in Year 6, we post regular updates on all things Year 6 on our Class Dojo page.

If you are not signed up to Class Dojo, or would like to add an additional parent, please see Miss Kearney ASAP to avoid missing out on key updates.

At the top of the page you will find the 'parent page' tab- this contains information about homework, spellings, PE, etc.

This Wednesday Year 6 and Year 6 took part in a practice via Zoom for the ExTraffordWINTERganza where we will be practising 2 songs over the next few weeks reading for the concert (via Zoom)

Scroll down the the bottom of this page for lyrics for 'Winter Mambo'- warning it is very catchy!

Year 6 performed an assembly via video that was shared amogst all year groups. We have learnt a lot about WW1 & 2 and have created some excellent poems based around war. Please click on the picture below to watch our video. We hope you enjoy watching it.

We had a lovely day today in the woods! Thanks to Mrs Rimmer for taking us down where we toasted marshallows, whittled sticks and played hide and seek.

Spooky Day

It was lovely to see all of Year 6 dressed up in 'spooky' costumes and enjoying the day. We learnt about Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and how it is celebrated all over the world (especially in Mexico). Also we learnt some Spanish words too.....

This half term our Topic is WW1 & WW2. So far we have learnt about:

  • How WW1 started and the timeline of the war
  • Poetry from WW1 and life in the trenches
  • The Holocaust and Anne Frank
  • Evacuation of children

The children are really enjoying learning about WW1 & WW2! Thank you to those children and parents who brought in items from the wars! We really enjoying looking at them.

The children enjoyed using the eco bricks to create WW2 zepplins! We learnt about why they were used and re-created them out of plastic bottles and some cardboard.

They will be displayed later on in the year in the classroom. Watch this space......
