Theme

Theme encompasses a variety of subject areas: History, Geography, Art, Music and Design Technology. The children study different themes throughout each year. Studies lasting either half-termly or Termly. Themes will have a main focus of History/Geography.

Children generate questions at the beginning of each theme of areas they would like to explore and this feeds into the planning of the teacher led sessions in which the different skills are taught. After these sessions the children complete TASC projects where they are encouraged to follow the TASC wheel to complete a project. These projects promote independence, higher order thinking skills and resilience and enable the children to work individually with a partner or within a group.  The picture below shows the task wheel illustrating the different steps the children go through to complete their projects.
