Welcome back to our wonderful nursery. We have made lots of changes to make our areas as safe as possible for all or children. We have planned some really nice themes that are based on some really great books.
We call ourselves The Busy Bee class. Like bees we try to be busy, helpful and hard working.
Have a look in the above files to see what we will be learning and all about Woodland Wednesday.
We are finding out about bees.
Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation
The EYFS staff have been learning about Hygge through this accreditation. Hygge is a Danish word that describes a feeling of warmth and cosiness, a way of living life observing nature and the seasons and supporting well being. We have built out classroom themes around the seasons and nature. Our classrooms reflect the Hygge approach. We dim the lights and play relaxing music throughout the day. We encourage the children to be outdoors in all weathers. We go onto the field and into the woodland every Wednesday. We call it Woodland Wednesday and the children love to use their senses to investigate nature.
We have our Hygge tree in the classroom all year round. We use it to display our nature photographs and art and craft work.
Owls
We read the stories "Owl Babies" and "Saving Mr Hoot". This inspired the children to find out about owls. They produced some beautiful art work.
Hedgehogs
The children had never see a real hedgehog as they are nocturnal. We watched You Tube videos, looked at books and photos to find out hedgehog facts. We love reading "Hedgehog Howdeedoo" by Lynley Dodd. We painted hedgehogs and made some out of clay.
We have been reading the story of The Gingerbread Man so we made some gingerbread men of our own.
We joined in the R.S.P.B. Big School Bird Watch 2022. We saw magpies, robins, wood pigeons and blue tits. We made a classroom display.
Snowdrops
We looked at some real snowdrops. Then we sketched and painted what we could see.
Friday is our day to feel good. We call it Feel Good Friday.
This is us enjoying our foot spa.
We have duck eggs in the nursery. So far 5 ducklings have hatched. The children are fascinated and very eggcited!
